Stripe Payments to HubSpot
Payment processing and billing platform with REST APIs. Stripe usually stays as the payment and billing system of record, and HubSpot reads or syncs from it.
Stripe Payments data can move into HubSpot, landing mainly in Revenue Hub. 2 of 5 mapped objects move directly (Customers and Products / Prices); 3 items need manual work and 3 do not move. Plan roughly 1-2 weeks for a small move and 6-12 weeks for a large one.

The three scenarios
Small migration
<5k customers
Native sync app only.
Mid migration
5k-50k customers
Custom mapping and workflow setup.
Large migration
>50k customers, multiple accounts
Custom ETL, multi-account handling, finance sign-off.

Access, mapping and limits
Start with how data leaves Stripe Payments: what you need to get in, what lands in HubSpot, and what will not.
REST (JSON responses, form-encoded requests)
Restricted API key with Read on the needed resources (customers, invoices, subscriptions, products/prices, charges).
Stripe Dashboard access sufficient to view and create API keys, and to install the HubSpot app. Exact role names were not verified.
Third-party sources list a default of about 25 requests/sec per endpoint, with higher live-mode global limits. Sources conflict on exact numbers, so check Stripe's rate-limit docs. A 429 is returned when limits are exceeded.

How will you move the data?
HubSpot offers an integration for importing records from Stripe Payments.
- You need: Restricted API key with Read on the needed resources (customers, invoices, subscriptions, products/prices, charges).
- Permission: Stripe Dashboard access sufficient to view and create API keys, and to install the HubSpot app. Exact role names were not verified.
Native imports often bring over only some data, so check coverage per object in the mapping below.
Export each object, clean it, then import it into HubSpot.
- API pagination of list endpoints
- HubSpot Stripe data sync app (customers, invoices, products, subscriptions, payments)
- Third-party ETL tools
Limits: Third-party sources list a default of about 25 requests/sec per endpoint, with higher live-mode global limits. Sources conflict on exact numbers, so check Stripe's rate-limit docs. A 429 is returned when limits are exceeded.
Migration and sync tools can move more than a plain import. Confirm which objects each one supports before you choose.
Best when volume is high, custom objects are many or automation is heavy. That is the Large scenario: 6-12 weeks, usually phased.

| Source object | In HubSpot | Moves | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customers | Contacts | yes | Native sync maps Stripe customers to HubSpot contacts, with custom field mapping. Company matching needs rules. |
| Products / Prices | Products | yes | Product fields can be mapped through the sync app. |
| Invoices | Custom objects | partial | The sync copies invoices into HubSpot. The target object type and fields need confirming in the HubSpot app. |
| Subscriptions | Custom objects | partial | Sync copies subscription status as reference data. Complex subscription models may not fully sync, and the sync is not a billing engine. |
| Charges / payments | Deals | partial | Payment status is synced as a reference. Linking it to deals depends on setup. |
What to expect
Stripe holds the payment vault. This record does not establish token portability, so keep them in Stripe.
Retain in Stripe or the accounting system. HubSpot is not a replacement ledger.
Using Stripe only as a gateway through HubSpot payments means HubSpot manages subscriptions and no Stripe Subscription or Invoice objects are created.
The two paths behave differently.
Customers map to contacts by default.
Only the synced fields are available.
Use restricted read-only keys.
Run a de-duplication pass and pick a key such as the Stripe customer ID before the first sync.
Test with representative customers and keep Stripe as the billing source.
Plan the multi-account and multi-brand structure up front.
Throttle requests and backfill in batches.
Data governance and compliance
Decide what is allowed to move before anything is exported. Tick each gate once it is agreed.

Stripe API/auth docs and HubSpot sync paths are supported, but mostly through secondary guides. The HubSpot object mapping details and governance/certification facts were not checked against HubSpot or Stripe docs.
